It's easy to think of people's salaries as a sunk cost. But it's better to think of it as a committed investment. To invest wisely, it's important to avoid waste, and spend your money on high value actions.
Meetings can be very high value, when well run. But it's easy to lose sight of things when you are in the thick of it. It'd be handy to have a gentle reminder to keep things on track.
PoundWise is one such reminder. It allows you to get a general idea of how much money you are spending on the meeting. It even has a couple of ways to remind you that you have spent certain amounts.
Using it is easy: Set the average cost for your participants, go to the main screen, set the number of people there now, and hit go. If someone comes in later, hit the up arrow to add someone, or hit the down arrow if someone leaves. PoundWise keeps track of these changes, so a couple of new people coming in halfway through the meeting only count against that part of the meeting.
PoundWise isn't a tool for strict accounting, it's strictly a gentle reminder to stay on track. Now at version 2.0, with a nice redesign, and many fewer bugs.
PoundWise stores all information locally on your device, and currently has no capability to have it be anywhere else. Further, the app doesn't transmit your data anywhere.
